HOBO CODE

Revised using the Code written by the Annual Convention - Congress of the Hoboes of America held on

August 8, 1894 at the Hotel Alden, 917 Market Street, Chicago, Illinois

 1.  Decide your own life; take responsibility for yourself.

2.  When in town or at school, always respect those in authority, and try to be polite at all times.

3.  Don't take advantage of someone who is in a vulnerable situation; help them instead.

4.  Always stay productive.  Keep doing things to improve your situation.

5.  When you are finished with your work, keep busy doing things that will help you learn.

6.  Always set a fine example for others in the community to see that a Laurel Hill Hobo does what is right and good.

7.  Help others who are in need.

8.  Keep our school and community clean.

9.  If you are able to help in any situation, do so willingly and gladly.

10. Dress neatly and appropriately.

11. When traveling on the bus to or away from school, follow all rules and represent your school and family well.

12. When attending after school-functions, here or away, behave in a manner that shows courtesy and discipline.

13. Look out for the well-being of younger hoboes.

14. Influence other hoboes to do that what is right and good.

15. Help your fellow hoboes whenever and wherever needed, you may need their help somedoay.

16. Speak up for what is right in an orderly and courteous way!
